Salsa Songs

The following is a playlist I put together of some of my favorite salsa songs. Most you've probably heard at the social or at your favorite night club. I saw a post earlier about people not knowing artist names / song names. Hopefully the playlist helps in your quest to find some salsa favorites.

Salsa To Move You - SKY Mambo Project Vol. 2

A little salsa to move you and help put some names to those tunes you hear in the clubs. This playlist features some of the biggest names in Salsa including La Reina de (the Queen of) salsa Celia Cruz and El Gran Combo who reign as Puerto Rico's biggest band.

Prabal's Cinco De Mayo Playlist

I wanted to post a play list I created on the occasion of Cinco De Mayo. My play list starts out with Andy Montanez whose songs I just started listening this past week and wow is he great singer. Then I found that he was the lead singer in El Gran Combo – go figure!
  • In (1) Caso Fabricado, I found the trumpet and piano combination awesome.
  • In (2) Casi Te Envido I liked the beginning vocal solo transition into the main song – very danceable after that transition (for the shine-challenged me!).
  • Then the three songs from El Gran Combo are all of my the favorites from that group.
What can I say about the rest – they are all good!

Happy Cinco De Mayo to all of you!

Salsa music w/o an iPod or CD's?

Yep, it's true!

Our good friend George Gardiner showed me a website a few weeks ago that I instantly was hooked by, Pandora.com. Perhaps you've heard of it or even use it, If you do then you know what i'm talking about when it comes the variety and flexibility of this site.

What you can do at this site is create your own radio station. From the moment you get to the site and enter either a favorite group or genre of music, the music instantly starts playing. Then, you the user get to take over and adjust the station to what kind of music you want to hear.
