Why Intemediate class before the Beginner??

People ask me this question a lot so I thought I would finally post it here. At first glance when you read the schedule it may not make sense. Hopefully this explanation will help make sense of it.

There are 2 main reasons why we have the intermediate class before the beginner class at the Harem. The first and most important reason originates back in the days of Wednesday night salsa at Boogie Fever in late 2002.

Salsa Fridays?!
It's been a long long time since Detroit has had a regularly occurring "salsa night" on a weekend. SKY Mambo attempts to bring it back starting April 4th at the Harem Nightclub.

Saturday Night is Salsa Night at Casa Real in Oxford! You get a FREE one hour class with Rich Jaramillo switching between Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata. It starts at 9pm. DJ Ricky until 2am. Rich's Salsa Divas dance team also performs each month.

BAILA Society Online Dance Academy

BAILA Society Online Dance Academy is offers an instructional video library for New York Salsa "on 2". Monthly subscriptions options including (1, 3 & 12) month subsriptions allow members to learn from top performers and instructors and access a global community of dancers of all levels. Students can choose the basic studio module or for an additional fee, include lessons from Tomas Guerrero who well known on the congresso circuit as a top level performer and choreographer.

Salseros Marci and Dimas bring latin sabor to the JCC with 8 week salsa courses designed for new or intermediate dancers. They also offer privates and performances for parties and festivals.

***WINTER SESSION*** 8-week course, Saturdays, beginning January 3rd 2009.

Proyecto Sabor at the Michigan League

Ann Arbor's Proyecto Sabor takes over the Michigan Leauge Underground room for a night of high-energy salsa, merengue, bachata, and even some reggaeton. MSalsa will provide free dance lessons and a casino de rueda perfomance highlighting cuban style dancing.

Salsa Fundraiser for the "Nicaragua Project"

Who knew you could make the world a better place by dancing? Actually, it seems pretty obvious. In pursuit of their mission to:

"Bridge the divide between wealthy and developing countries by providing capital, employment, and opportunities for cultural exchange."

Saturday October 20th, the Nicaragua Project will hold a salsa fundraiser featuring the sounds and energy of Detroit's own Orchestra La Inspiracion. This event will bridge the divide between good deeds and great dancing.
