Chicago Salsa Congress 2008 Survival Guide

Posted October 8th, 2007 by SharonOn recommmendations from friends and other salsa enthusiasts I decided to attend the congress. Toronto is one of my favorite cities. So much to see & do. So culturally diverse. Friday, Saturday, & Sunday proved to be an exciting, fun, and exhausting experience. I'm still smiling and wondering if I will ever get enough salsa! That is not to say that I didn't wish for some things to be different. Are we ever totally satisfied?
Another spin at the NY Salsa Congress 2007
Posted September 6th, 2007 by Geo-The 2007 NY Salsa Congress (NYSC) was just a blur of a weekend. Now that I've had some sleep and enough caffiene to restart my brain, that's still really the only way to describe it.
Arriving on Thursday night at the Hilton at 12:45 AM (a little late for the band, but plenty of time with the DJ), I knew I was in the right place. The room was packed with hundereds of the hard core "just love to dance" people like me alongside many of the best dancers, performers and instructors on the planet! Everywhere I looked, people were throwing out amazing stuff -- and this was just the warm up night. Two and a half hours later, I dragged myself out of there vowing to pace myself better -- my body couldn't really take three more days and nights of this... Stopping in a local deli for dinner afterward, I was off to the hotel "early" at 3:30 AM.

2007 Salsa Rueda Congress in Miami
Posted August 25th, 2007 by Geo-The Salsa Rueda Congress is your excuse to get down to the famous South Beach and dip your toes just as winter gets going here in Detroit. World famous salseros Henry Herrera and Billy Fajardo present four days of Miami and Cuban style dancing, fun and sun.
Detroit highlights for this event include lessons by duane Wrenn and a perfomance celebrating Afro-Cuban dance by the Energetic Soul dance team. Members of the 2005 Energetic Soul Dance Team took 2nd Place in both the Casino de Rueda and couples competitions.
