YA Salsa Workshop Weekend HUGE!!

WOW!! The August workshop was massive. That was arguably the best turn out for salsa workshop that we ever had! With support like that, salsa in Detroit will be alive and thriving for a long time to come. Troy & Jorjet came prepared with excellent instruction as well. After the free beginner classes they took over and showed the basics of Cha Cha and dancing On2 before diving into some cool turn patterns. They followed with some smooth styling classes for men and woman and finally finished things off with a very cool and challenging “advanced” partner work class. The only thing left is to put it all too some good use on the dance floor!

A lot of people came together to help make weekend a success. The YA Team would like to give a big thanks to a few social guests who found the time to help us out when we really needed it:

  • Manuela - who helped us out on the door
  • Zulma - who on many occasions including this one, help with the setup of the social.
  • Susanne & Jimmy – Who are always there to help with the social setup and cleanup
  • Koki & Sabastian - who helped out all weekend long... at the workshop, the social setup, the door, and the social clean up. They did it all!
  • Ronnie Ron - who helped get the word out in a big way by passing out hundreds of YA Salsa fliers.
  • DJ Efrain & DJ Issac - who maned the DJ booth and laid down some killer dance tracks!
Thank you guys! Know that your contributions will never go unnoticed or unappreciated!

Mark your calendars! The next YA Salsa Social is September 23rd

Pictures and Video coming soon!

Gotta love the hand drops!

I done the turn where you do the "hand drop" and then cross body lead with a turn on her shoulder and almost everyone said - "Hey that was really cool" or some variation.
