It's Oh So Quiet...
OK, the September Social was anything but quiet. The music was loud and great, the crowd was big, and the place was just plain jumping. But I've already moved on to October and this now seems quiet in comparison.
The first thing to note is the people who were not there. Very noticably, Shekyla and Jamin - the base of this operation - were busy over the weekend formalizing their committment to each other in Jamaica. Contratulations to them!

But where there is a void, we always seem to luck out and have an answer. DJs Cisco and Issac were there, as well as Samer, and we had nothing but fine music flowing all night. As well, Dimas & Anna and Samer & Cat lead some of the best lessons we have ever had -- and now we have started videotaping to refresh everyone's memory.
We always point it out, but it never ceases to be true that we have many, many new faces at each social, and we can see that we are accomplishing our mission. For those (and I think there were many) who took fliers to pass out for the October Super Salsa Weekend, you are affirming the whole reason we volunteer so much time and effort -- to help grow the salsa scene.

September is behind us and we look forward to seeing everyone back in October. October represents not only a big event for YA, but a certain fulfillment of our mission: to grow the scene in Detroit Metro. We have saved and planned all year long to bring in all of these instructors and perfomers as well as to pay for the bands. So we hope everyone will take time out of their schedules to join us as well as spread the word.
October will be a fun, exciting and long weekend so we encourage those of you in proximity to the events to act as hosts and help those who have to travel. Take our guests out to dinner or if you know them, let them change, rest, or even stay at your house. When we say "us" at YA Salsa, we mean you!
See "us" in October!
