Return of the Mack
I had danced myself into a state of extreme exhaustion. It took a whole week to recover! Normally I don’t get to dance that much but this time I made sure to steal a lot of them. My thanks and apologies to the team for covering for me while I was out there dancin’ it up! I don’t know what got into me, maybe it was all those insanely awesome salsa tracks that Saif was spinning all night. I just could not stop moving!
For those of you who don’t know him, Saif and the YA Salsa mission go back a long way. Saif would regularly donate his time, talent and collection of stellar salsa music at the socials and helped shape excellent environment for dancing salsa we try hard to create. It was devastating to us all when his career required his returned to Dubai but Saif made sure to leave us behind with enough killer tracks that held us over for a long long time. That is the kind of generous guy he is and it will never be forgotten. Once back in Dubai, newly minted DJ Saif B dramatically expanded his collection rare and exceptionally good salsa tracks and established himself as one of the best salsa DJ’s in the country. It was great seeing him again and an honor to have him once again donate is exceptional music collection from behind the DJ booth. Saif, we miss you all over again my friend!
In other news, another spot to dance salsa on Friday has emerged. Pete Vasquez of SalsaDetroit.com announced the start of a new once a month salsa party on Fridays at Pi restaurant in Southfield starting September 12th. As Pete said in his announcement, the monthly Friday salsa party has a mission. That mission is to bring more corporate awareness and sponsorship to the Latino community of young professionals in the Detroit area. More info on this event will eventually get posted on SalsaDetroit.com. Check it out!
That’s it for now. Stay tuned for more. Pictures are online. See you on the dance floor!

Thanks for pitching in!
Thanks to all the people who shared time at the front table. We were a bit short of people for this social and so it took a few people really camping out there for a long time to keep it covered. A special thanks to Cat and her sister Marshalle who held down the fort for many an hour!
