Atlanta
I was in Atlanta last week & had a chance to dance at the new Tongue & Groove.I'd recommend it. Classy place, good dance floor, good drinks, & places to socialize & sit.It will be nice when the upstairs opens. Great enegy from the footwork and partner work lessons by Guilan. Dancers of all ages. The newbys stayed & tried out their new steps. All my partners were gentelmen, great dancers, & fun. The clubs stay open until 3 am. Yahoo! The promoter gave me a little history of salsa in Atlanta since I was last there in 2004. They deal with some of the same issues re: beginning & ending dance venues. A few closed due to new condos or buildings going in.
Atlanta has more sky scrapers than NYC, an abundance of international & American restaurants, an aquarium that is fabulous, & lots to do. Never try & drive during rush hour (Did I say drive?...Park is more like it!) Pedestrians be prepared wait to cross any 6 lane street. At least the drivers were friendly & mass transportation (Marta, busses, or cabs or plentiful).
So if you are heading to Atlanta...enjoy.
