I met a group from Lansing @ top of the park. The dance instructor teaches @ Lansing Community College. They are awesome dancers. I told them about YASALSA.
Sharon Dimmer instructs both the beginning and intermediate ballroom swing and Latin classes. She has been instructing dance at LCC for 25 years, and also makes time to instruct classes off campus.
On Saturday nights, Dimmer can be found at the Malecon in Frandor, where she encourages her dance students to come out for a night of Salsa dancing.
Latin dance students focus on dances that are known to be local social dances, such as salsa, Bachata and the Merengue.
Student-turned instructor Hansel Rodriguez has been helping Dimmer with her Latin dance classes for three semesters now. Rodriguez also instructs with Dimmer at the Malecon.
“You get to interact with the person you’re dancing with,” Rodriguez said, “You get to meet the person you dance with. It’s very playful.”
Both Ballroom swing and Latin dance courses are offered at LCC fall and spring semesters. For more information contact Sharon Dimmer at 483-1227.
Retraction: On Saturday nights Dimmer and Rodriguez can be found at the Metro Bowl's Player's Club (not the Malecon) which is near the corner of Cedar and Jolly. These lessons start at 10pm and are open to the public. $5 dollar cover.

Thanks so much Sharon. I have friends going to Lansing in a few weeks and were wondering about this. You just met them this past weekend?? Talk about good timing...

Just wondering if you still have these Saturday night Salsa lessons / open dancing at the Metro bowl. I live in Okemos and was interested in checking out the scene! Please post any other info on places to do dancing this month Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
I'm guessing that the number above is a 517 area code?
