Where should she work? San Jose or Martinique?

This message was sent to us from Catherine:

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you could help me with something. I'm trying to decide between two possible jobs - one is located in San Jose Costa Rica and the other will be on the Caribbean island Martinique. Being the salsa addictthat I am, I was wondering where the salsa community is better...

Does anyone have experiences with / friends from either of these two places and know what the salsa scene is like?

Thanks for the help!

San Jose or Martinique

Well Catherine, as much as I don't want you to leave, Martinique seems to me more French culture, even though nowadays salsa is everywhere, but a couple of years ago there was a Costa Rican band at the Congress, which impressed me because they were so good. As a matter of fact, I bought their CD & I can lend it to you.
The culture there is really latin, and the country is a very good, safe one & I know of people that have moved over there & are very happy.

Of course, the best way would be for you to go visit both & have a better idea of how you would feel there... BTW, it just occur to me that they must speak French in Martinique... I still remember some of the five years of French I learned in the sixties, do you need an interpreter? :~)
