Did I read that right?

Is this a fundraiser for the DSO or for the band, or some other event? I'd say this is a ridiculous amount (per person, or for a group of six) unless we're raising funds to cure cancer.

I don't know if it is a fundrasier...

That event is the same night as the concert. If you go to www.Detroitsymphony.com it seems like it's just the afterparty to that concert. I agree that is way too much per son and for a group.

Yes It is a Fundraiser

It is a fundraiser for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Maybe we can sneak in a back door to do some dancing ;)

Fundraiser for DSO

It is probably a special event where a large portion of the $125 is tax-deductible. The money goes to support the DSO.

On the other hand, non-profits, including the DSO, are struggling with major corporate funders like Comerica, Ford and GM withdrawing support, individual contributors no longer able to support organizations through ticket purchases and contributions as they lose their jobs, and state and national government support declining at a rapid rate.

The DSO and the other arts organizations in Detroit are tremendous institutions dedicated to the Detroit community and Michigan. The DSO in particular brings a wide variety of music to the community, going beyond symphonic music in the traditional sense. All of the arts institutions in Detroit uplift and enhance lives throughout Southeastern Michigan during a rather difficult economic time.

$125 helps to ensure that the DSO continues to provide music to its community.

Thank you ...

Certain details such as these are helpful and appreciated. I'm sure whomever wrote this was from the DSO.

Wish I had that kind of money myself! It is a good cause. If we don't support the arts as best we can, they will certainly go away.
