Salsa momentum building still..

Whew!!! We've barely started the 3rd month of 2008 and already there has an extraordinary amount of activity this year!

- New Latin nights popping up all the time
- Salsa Socials seemingly every weekend.
- Incredible live music is a weekly event
- Salsa Recognition awards night (and of course Nellie's birthday!)
- The fabulous Gilberto Santa Rosa made a visit and wowed Detroit on February 19th.
- We've already had a Jack and Jill contest that had Salsa dancing as one of the required dances
- Salsa house parties!
- DETROIT DANCERS INVADED AND RULED THE CHICAGO SALSA CONGRESS!!!
- Detroit to be listed on SalsaPower.com as a Salsa city

These are fantastic happenings already this year. If I've forgotten anything else, please post it..

Let's keep up the momentum and help make 2008 the best Year of Salsa the state of Michigan has ever seen!

I agree that things are really moving forward. I'm always saying this, but the most encouraging thing is not that I see the people i've come to know night after night at the clubs, studios and socials its that we see a lot of new faces too. We have a lot of opportunities to make the Detroit, which I personally think is overall one of the best anywhere, even better. Lots of us work very hard at growing things and making them better and if we keep plugging forward there should be lots of really great opportunities ahead.

So, I hope everyone who has been on the dance scene will keep doing their part and new people will see how great this is and decide to step into the fray too. It doesn't take much -- pass out a flier, take a friend to a club or a lesson, tell your co-workers, refer someone to YA Salsa....
