REVIEW: Flava Invasion 3 - Atlanta, GA

Atlanta Flava Invasion 3
I just wanted to share my thoughts about Flava Invasion 3. I had an awesome time. Gordon Neil and iMambo.tv have done an impressive job putting together this event.

Downtown Atlanta was the site for the weekend's activities. Among the many performers were several names that will be familiar to any follower of YA Salsa: The above noted Gordon Neil, Troy Anthony, Sekou McMiller, Magna Gopal, and Shaka Brown. For the Saturday concert, Fania All Star Larry Harlow, Joel "Masacote" Massicot, and Orquesta Macuba played a blistering set. Add to this dancing that was easily on the level of a congress, and you can see why I am giving this event such a good review. As always, I took a few photos to share. I hope you enjoy them.

An added plus to this weekend was the fact that several people with Detroit connections were in attendance. LaShena, Winston, Donald, Anwar, Geoff, Julius, I just want to say that it was good to see you and I'm happy you're all doing well.

So overall, I had a great time. I hope to be able to return next year for Flava Invasion 4.

Salsa Sabotoge

It is good to know that this event turned out well in spite of the efforts of SalsaAtl.com to sabotage it. For months prior to this event SalsaAtl.com was intentionally sending emails with misinformation to thier large subscriber base that the Flava Invasion 3 was canceled. No explanation was given why, just that is was canceled. It was actually working a little bit too. Never before have I seen this kind of outright attack on the success of a salsa event. The organizers of the Flava Invasion 3 (Gordon Neil & iMambo.tv) had to work twice as hard to undo the damage the rival SalsaAtl.com was trying to inflict upon them. Good job to those guys for fighting through it and making it happen.

really??

It's clear that there is an issue of who's makin' the money vs. who cares about promoting the cause here. I hope your claims are true and not assumed though Jamin, libel/slander needs to be taken into account when stating such things. However!! It's great that though SalsaDetroit and YASalsa have slightly different styles/angles upon which they work, they continue to be respectful of each other and cooperate whenever possible - from what I've seen. A war can ruin it for everyone - let's hope that doesn't happen in Atlanta.

Oh really!

Yes - Mr. Jamin is on the mark. There was apparently quite the little battle going on there. There are links all over the web, but this is one of the easiest to follow.

They had a www.flavainvasion.com site saying it was cancelled and Gordon's www.flavainvasion3.com site was the official site.

Craziness

So unfortunate and really childish ... Nice to know we have a great community here. And about that dance floor ... I like the VFW too. Is there a YouTUbe video with some type of "protect your lady" instructions we could post withthat thread?? lol
