Where to go ? New Year Eve Salsa Party

I am trying to decide between Club Havana or the Club Internacional (see recent Event Post). Any ideas/thoughts about what each place has to offer is welcome

My suggestion for NYE

I'm going to suggest Cafe Habana in Ann Arbor. There are 5 people signed up on our listing and it probably has a lot of things like a good location, food and good drinks as well as a good DJ behind it. I've only been to Club Interacional once and I think the marketing is oriented to the latino community and not really the salsa crowd so I'm not sure if any salseros are going show there. Its probably a place where its better to go with your own group.

Happy New Years!

I'll probably end up at the Red Parrot

We have some friends in from out of town who are into latin music but not so much into salsa, we will will probably end up at the Red Parrot if anywhere at all.

So, where did you go?

Tell us where you ended up and how it was :)

NYE

Started @ Club Interncional with no one there @ 10:30 pm. Talked with a band member and headed for Cafe Habana. Upon arriving we were undecided on whether or not to stay. Music & dancing were downstairs. The cement dance floor was very small with very few options for a dance on the sidelines. There were some familiar faces who either came in groups or as couples. Thanks to two good salsera enthusiasts we decided to stay. Besides, the DJ was spinning some very good salsa, cha, cha, cha, bachata with a little merenge, cumbia, latin hustle, & reggatone mixed in. The appetizers were plentiful & tasty. One had enough garlic to last me a lifetime, however. Thank heavens for strong breath mints from my friend. The complementary mystery drink (Not champagne, maybe a Margarita, doubt a Mojito) for toasting in the New Year was sufficient. Wait staff & Bar service were good excepfor one time when the drinks were removed before we had the pleasure of consuming them fully. Good conversation, great dancing in a space by the DJ, & a few laughs with made the evening worthwhile. It was cozy & a good expereince overall. Even had a quick snow ball "fight" with a few gents in the snow in heels as we headed to our car. Had I worn the proper shoes I might have been persuaded to engage in more snow activities. Not wanting to freeze I headed for the car. Chaffuered by an excellent driver we braved the snow & ice all the way home. We welcomed the new year in on a pleasantly positive note. Happy New Year, Indeed!

NYE@ Cafe Habana

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I thought that for the purposes of dancing we should have done it upstairs. The room was pretty small but I think it was a good time. The only downside to the whole night was having to drive home in that snow. It took over an hour, but what can you do.

Red Parrot

Oddly enough there were not as many people there as I thought there would be. They had 3 rooms but one was completely empty the whole time we were there. We were also expecing more salsa people to be there. Of course some salsa people were there but not that many. Where did all the salsa people go?

Salsa people were there.

I saw quite a few of salsa people there.
