Salsa Rock Band?
Posted December 27th, 2007 by Sebastian
Talk about a fun night. On the night of the "Noche Noel" I decided to hold a get together at my house seeing as how the venue was down the street from house plus I figured it would be nice for the people who briefly spoke with each other in the clubs and at the socials a chance to really get to know each other and talk. Everyone was sharp dressed and ready for a night of dancing. About 15 minutes or so before we decided to venture out Koki recommended firing up "Rock Band"... for those that don't know Rock Band is a video game in which you play musical instruments such as a guitar, drums and a microphone. I thought it would be a disaster as turning on the game meant turning off the salsa music I had playing but none the less I turned it on. From the moment it was powered on people stopped what they were doing and wondered about.
They sat and watched as Koki got ready to play the drums on Nirvana's "In Bloom". Judging by everyone's reaction it seemed like a crowd favorite. At that moment I decided to turn on the microphone as well and handed it over to Amy... what happened next was a thing of beauty. A room full of salsaleros was singing their hearts out. Koki ruled on the drums and everyone else sang along to the words on the screen. No one held back. After the song was over they wanted a second song, so next I suggested Bon Jovi "Dead or Alive"... again everyone knew the words and sang along. For our last song we agreed on Soundgarden "Black Hole Sun"... after that we were all hyped up for a night of dancing.

Hector Lavoe's Rock Band!
Next they will build in Hector Lavoe song into the game just for us!
Grins!
Gosh that was fun! It reminds me a karaoke but at least it had specific talent for everyone instead of just singers. If they could add DDR to it but with salsa steps to hector Lavoe's music, I think we'd all go nuts.
Where are our product pitchers? We need a video game deal, STAT!!
Wanted! (wanted)...Dead or Alive!
That was a great song for getting everyone singing along and in the party mood. Kudos to Sebastian for being a great host and I just have to mention Jess's amazing singing - I was blown away.
:-) Thank you
... very much Heather! I'll have to brush up on my rock music repertoire for the next shindig.
Yeah Jess can sing
Yeah Jess did have an amazing voice, I was also surprised by Mark and his singing... I just added some more songs to the game (you can buy more lol). Still no salsa songs though... I need to write to the company that made the game and complain lol. Again I'll try to put something together for next month. Though I'd prefer if there was a salsa event going on so we can go out and dance afterwards... if not we could just spend the whole night playing the game and drinking hmmm....
Repeat!
Do this again and I will clear my schedule!

There will be an encore!!
It was so much fun and everyone seemed to enjoy it so much that I will organize another get together very soon. I'm thinking in January, that way things can settle down after everyone does there New Year's partying. I'll send out the invitation soon. Hopefully Ken or Jamin will post the pics soon, there were some from the party that I would like to see.
