A good street shoe for dancing??
Posted November 16th, 2007 by Jamin
Someone asked me a question the other day that i was not sure how best to answer since I have very little experience with ladies shoes :)
She asked me if there was an inexpensive street shoe she could buy that would be good for dancing. Does such a thing exist in ladies footwear?
What attributes would you look for in a street shoe or a dress shoe that you might go dancing in?
Comment please!!

ladies dance shoes
try shoes with a plastic sole!!!
Plastic, but definitely not rubber
Which means the sole won't be very flexible. I have a pair of flats that I use occassionally that are leather soled, probably still not cheap enough, but they are street shoes nonetheless. Seriously, I'd spring for the dance shoe - I know a woman who buys them cheaply enough on eBay that she has a closet full. Do some searching, you'll find something affordable. The extra cash is really worth it in the long run.
Thanks
Thanks for the advice. I was the one who originally asked Jamin the question. I went to DSW tonight and bought a pair of almost-flats (with a little heel) with a smooth non-rubber sole. I'm new to Salsa, but if I end up becoming a regular, I will definitley spring for the dance shoes!
Cheap Shoes
If you want cheap shoes to dance in I may suggest bowling shoes. I have seen some people wear those to dance before, and I heard they're pretty good to move in. Bowling shoes should go for about $30 a pair. Not bad if you ask me.
I live to dance, I breath to dance longer.

payless
When I first started dancing a year and a half ago I found a pair of heels at Payless ($15) that had fabric on the bottom. I noticed that a lof of their shoes that season had that. They worked well for me for a long time until I started dancing multiple nights a week in addition to classes. That's when I sprung for dance shoes. A girl I started dancing with bought the same ones from Payless and as far as I know she still uses hers.
i don't know if they still make shoes like that, but it might be worth a look.
Ladies Dance shoes
One of my friends introduced me to E-bay and I have found a few pairs of shoes.....LOL..... I have been happy with my purchases so far. For me E-bay is a great option I have found reasonable, shoes that fit my buget and are usable as well as stylish. I have also purchased shoes from other places and dance wear/shoe web sites/catalogs. I found a pair of shoes at DSW also. My Friends call them the stripper/pole dancer shoes. That is fine with me especailly when you think about how those dancers have to move. The shoes are padded and have a plastic sole. I have just about worn these shoes out. They are comfortable and great to dance in , especially when I don't want to mess up the suede soles of my other dance shoes. I have also spoken to other dancers about shoes. You never know what type of ideas/information or even option suggestions you may get/find.
