Thought for the day...

The other day, a guy I just met, Keith who has just started dancing, was telling me about what Rene Thompson said to the class at the Energetic Soul workshops. He said...
“Dance like you are the greatest dancer in the world.”
Keith loved it. I loved it. You gotta love that because until you give yourself that freedom you’re pretty much exercising. Its the difference between measuring portions and heating food and cooking a feast.
Of course no one wants a meal with no technique, but I'm going to take inspiration over science every day.

I agree
While I may never have the mentality of "I'm the greatest dancer" there is a freedom that comes with confidence and it makes the dance just feel better. I have no idea how it looks, but I know I have a better time when I let loose.
Thought for the day
Or I quote" Dance like no one is watching." Dancing should be felt by the heart and expressed by the soul. Listening to the music has a magical effect. A friend of mine said he got hooked when he heard the music as he was walking by a nightclub. He has been salsa dancing all over the country ever since.
When I relax and just let go the enjoyment excels. It makes it easier on my partners' leads. Worrying about whether or not I'll be able to follow a lead or that someone has a critical eye on me just hinders my passion for dance. It takes the fun out of being spontaneous, playful, creative, or flirtatious. I love it when I surprise my partner with a shine or look. I've seen many a grin when they thought I wasn't watching. To see my partners smile, raise an eyebrow, or comment when they have executed a move that works is a pleasure. Everyone makes mistakes, when you are creative, no one may even notice. They may even be too busy enjoying the moment to even care. So why not live it up and dance your soles off!
