Sundays at Sangria going strong!

All I can say is that Sundays at Sangria with Grupo Escobar is pretty damm good! I have to admit that I was skeptical about Sundays at Sangia -- not a lot of marketing and I just wasn't sure that salsaeros would turn out and support a band week after week. I was clearly mistaken! This was my second time there. The first time I made it there, the turnout was OK, but just OK. Things seem to have picked up and it looks like this will really stick.
The first thing I have to say about Grupo Escobar is that these guys can play and not only that, they can play for dancers. They clearly are having a great time themselves and they play shorter songs with tempos and breaks that dancers can follow. Thank you! One of the things about this night is that both salseros and music lovers can both really enjoy the night as the band plays great sets.
Not only is this a good night to dance, it really turns out to be a good night to socialize. Maybe because it is in a restaurant rather than a nightclub, it feels more comfortable to just sit at a table and hang or maybe because there is no DJ, in between sets and they keep the music's volume low, it feels like good downtime.
With this many dancers showing up, hopefully management will move some of the tables back so there is a little more room-- it can get a bit dicey out there especially when the dancers are really getting into the band. If anything, space will be the big determinant if this night can keep growing.
I know some (Mark & Lisa) would like to keep this a secret.... But against their threats and wishes I'm going to ruin it and suggest to everyone that they give it a try. Oh and did I mention no cover? The price is hard to beat... Did I mention that they play 90% salsa and a little chachacha? Sangria serves food and has a full drink and wine menu to boot.
OK to summarize. Free. Band. Salsa. Sunday. Fun! Enough said.
P.S. If someone has photos of this night that they can share, please let us know.

Sunday at Sangia
You said it all! There is no such thing as free fun so help keep this thing going. We may not drink much so have a light dinner before, desert or hell, buy the great band a round. Treat the wait staff right and keep it going.
