Am I in the right place? Yep, you came to the right place. Things may look a little different but we hope it will be for the better. In our efforts to grow the Salsa Dance community in Detroit, we have decided to take the site to a new level by offering more interactive, community-building features and a lot more information about salsa dancing, music, Detroit, and the people who make up our community.

We want to turn new people on to salsa dancing; support studios, clubs and events that make up the dance scene; and help dancers of all levels continue to grow.


Here are some of the new community building features that we hope you will take advantage of:
  • User contributed Articles & Reviews
  • Blogs for you to speak out or talk about what's going on
  • Post comments function available for almost every article
  • *Five Star* User Ratings on just about everything
  • Special Events and an Events Calandar
  • Salsa Playlists highlighting the music we love
  • Google Salsa Scene Map detailing the Detroit clubs and studios
  • "Search" function so you can find the information you need
...and there will be a bunch more stuff including an updated "look & feel" that will reveal itself in time.

A huge huge thanks goes out to George Gardiner for the valuable insight, direction, and the hard work he put into building this site! It would not have happened without him!

We have taken the first step. Now it's up to YOU to join in an help make this community grow by signing up and contributing too!

We are really hoping to get a lot (more than you can handle) of content that will help new people understand what all this stuff is about. On the "Contribute" page we have a long list of articles that we hope some people can dive in and tackle so that we can really make this a great reference site as well as a scene guide.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Hopefully the change will be for the better! Like we have been saying, it is still a work in progress. Don't be shy about giving us constructive criticism. I am already made a few changes from the first round of feedback and things are looking better already. So don't hold back :)

I like the new look! I think it will prove to be very user friendly.

I like the contribute page, the map, and the blog idea. But how about a forum where people can discuss all things salsa in one spot?

I also like the calendar page - maybe you could put a link to it in the main menu.

I'm glad you like it so far. The music page is my personal favorite :)

The site has a forum feature already built into it but i have not had much reason to fire it up yet. O me it feels like there is a forum on every page! It is not our of the realm of possibility, we'll see.

On the Blogs page we will have a teaser list of blogs from everyone. We can also develop other views for the blogs that show maybe just the headline from each but show a lot of different ones like a typical forum. We have to try different options out as we are just learning to use this software package and its modules.

I completely agree with the you on the calendar page and we will work to make that a more obvious option.
