Midwest Mixer Weekend at ESDS
Posted October 6th, 2008 by AllitaThe Midwest Mixer that took place at the Energetic Soul Dance Studio this weekend (Oct. 4 & 5, 2008) might very well be over, but I’m sure that the lasting memories will remain with those who participated.
Due to prior engagements, I didn’t go to nearly as many workshops as I wanted. However, the one that I did attend (‘Casino Style Turns’) was well worth my time. From warm greetings by Rico and Leticia, to phenomenal instructions/demonstrations by duane and Maribel, this workshop has met all of my expectations. I left the studio with a much deeper understanding of casino style dancing.
Selling rhythm to the world
Posted April 16th, 2008 by AllitaA friend has forwarded the following article to me:
I keep mentioning salsa to him, and although he loves to dance, he is yet to experience the fabulous world of salsa dancing. However, from what I could tell, he is probably more convinced now to get involved in this worldwide community. He was genuinely surprised to find out just how popular salsa is all over the globe.
Who knows, maybe that will do the trick of persuading him to come out and join the salsa community, because I certainly tried to get him interested, but wasn’t so lucky. We’ll see if the article will have more influence on him than I did.
Dance Etiquette
Posted December 20th, 2007 by AllitaWhat is the best approach to the following situation?
You were asked to dance by someone you’ve never danced with before. The two of you make it all the way to the dance floor, and then you find out that your partner doesn’t know the dance. Both of you end up just standing there, with your partner’s next statement being: “Teach me!”
Any suggestions on how to politely handle the incident described above?
Showing Off or Having Fun
Posted November 29th, 2007 by AllitaSalseros, I would love to hear your opinions on this subject. Please feel free to comment.
If you see a skillful dancer who has mastered the art of salsa dancing and is not afraid to let the public see the results of their hard work, would you consider them a show off?
Ten Things NOT To Say In A Salsa Club
Posted November 7th, 2007 by Allita1. Would you like to dance? You look like you could teach me.
2. Real men don’t dance, but then again, who said I was a man?
3. Do you have insurance?, in case I break your neck.
